Welcome to the Catholic Academy of West Buffalo and to the new school year 2010 - 2011. As a school community we are committed to having the best and most successful year ever on Delaware Avenue.
With barely 4 weeks remaining in the school year, several events have been planned. Grandparents Day for students in grades Pre-K4 through 2 will be at 1:00p.m. on Thursday, May 27th, in the school cafeteria. Also on May 27th will be an ice cream social and closing ceremony for our PreK 3 year-old program. Closing ceremonies for PreK4 and Kindergarten will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd, at 9:00a.m and 1:00 p.m, respectively. The Graduates Mass will be on June 23rd, at 9:00a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by a brunch for the 8th graders and their families in the school gym. Graduation will take place on Thursday, June 24th, at 7:00p.m. at Holy Cross Church.
The Catholic Academy Drama Club will be presenting the story Big Bad on Thursday, May 20th. The show will begin at 7:00p.m. and admission is $1.00 per person. The story is about the big bad wolf being put on trial for crimes against fairy tale characters and the audience is the jury. Students in grades 4 through 8 participate in the show, with lead roles held by 8th grader Alexis Gray (Evil Stepmother) and 7th grader Raquel Feliz (Fairy Godmother). The production is directed by teachers Mary Johnson and assistant directors are Karla Ragusa and Barry Schaub.
Catholic Academy of West Buffalo is pleased to announce the 16th Annual Silent Ticket Auction on Saturday, March 20th, at 1069 Delaware Ave. Doors open at 6:30p.m. and drawings will begin promptly at 8:00p.m. Our own Chris Psaradelis will serve as Mistress of Ceremony. Admission is $9.00 and includes 25 tickets and one dessert. There will be over 150 theme trays and raffle items available as well as special raffle items such as Darien Lake Seasons Pass, Philharmonic/Dinner package, Spa package and many more. An Open House for families interested in enrolling children at Catholic Academy of West Buffalo in September 2010 will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7th from 11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9th from 9:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 10th from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Catholic Academy..
The H.S.A is sponsoring a movie night for the annual family fall social on Friday, November 13th, from 6:00 -8:30. The new movie UP (rated PG) will be shown in the school gym. The price is $1/per person and includes (1) bag of popcorn and (1) drink. Additional popcorn, drinks and candy bars will be available for purchase. Parents MUST accompany their children. Children may bring a blanket and pillow and dress in their pajamas to be really comfortable. We welcome you to a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
Catholic Academy 8th graders are once again receiving recognition from local high schools for their academic excellence. Scholarships in excess of $100,00 have been awarded to 4 students. Holy Angels Academy has awarded the prestigious Oishei scholarship to Alexandria Lee. Canisius High School has awarded the Sean Rooney Scholarship to twins Joseph and Daniel Sullivan. JoMari Nunez has been awarded the Mary Deane Freeland Memorial Scholarship from Sacred Heart Academy.
